Introduction

A generous donation of HK$7.85 million from the Hongkong Bank Foundation has made possible the planning and development of the Early Childhood Learning Centre. Apart from providing quality early childhood education and contributing to early childhood teacher education, the ECLC serves as a locus for the promotion of family-school-community collaboration. The ECLC is a self-funding, non-profit-distributing centre operated by the EdUHK Schools Limited.

Objectives

The ECLC has an excellent location enjoying the best views of the EdUHK campus with a generous amount of space – a gross floor area of 1018 sq.m. plus an outdoor play area of 304 sq.m. It consists of infants aged one to two years, a full-day Nursery and a half-day and full-day Kindergarten, with a maximum intake of about 161 children. In September 2001, the Early Childhood Learning Centre opened its doors to the first intake of children.
